Store your bags conveniently under the stairs near the reception desk—organise access to the hotel post-checkout by reaching out to us.

  • Grande Vue doesn't have conventional air conditioning; however, we have an evaporation cooler on the top floor for rare hot days in Hobart. Every room is equipped with fans and Dyson air coolers. On warmer days, we suggest keeping the curtains closed while you're out. Typically, the cool afternoon breeze naturally refreshes Grande Vue

    Huon Valley (South of Hobart)

    If you're heading south of Hobart, the Huon Valley offers a variety of experiences. Start your day with a walk at Hartz Mountain in Geeveston, a beautiful spot for nature lovers. As you explore the area, take a scenic drive along the Channel Highway. This route takes you from Cygnet to Kettering, passing through charming spots like Randalls Bay, Eggs & Bacon Bay, Verona Sands, Birches Bay, and Woodbridge. For a more relaxed pace, consider stopping in Cygnet, our favourite town in the area.

    For lunch, we recommend The Kilne Eatery. Rally interesting food with the friendliest staff . If you're looking for a sweet afternoon treat, head over to Willie Smith’s Apple Shed on the Huon Highway in Grove. They serve the best apple pie and ice cream, offer cider tastings, and have a delightful cheese platter.

    If you're in the mood for a quick snack, don't miss the pies at Summer Kitchen Organic Bakery in Ranelagh. And if you have a sweet tooth, treat yourself to some handmade fine chocolates at Nutpatch in Kettering.

    Bruny Island

    Start your day early and head to Kettering, just 30 minutes from Hobart, to catch the ferry to Bruny Island. The 20-minute ferry ride offers stunning views of the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Upon arrival, visit the Bruny Island Cheese Co. for a delicious cheese tasting and a leisurely breakfast.

    Next, stop at The Neck, a narrow isthmus offering some of Tasmania’s most iconic views. Climb to the lookout for breath-taking panoramas of the island’s beaches and turquoise waters.

    Continue to Adventure Bay, known for its pristine beach and rich history. Here, you can embark on an eco-cruise with Pennicott Wilderness Journeys, exploring Bruny Island’s rugged coastline and spotting local wildlife like seals and dolphins.

    By midday, treat yourself to lunch at Bruny Island Premium Wines.This family-owned vineyard offers a menu featuring local Tasmanian produce and handcrafted wines, all enjoyed with views of the surrounding countryside.

    In the afternoon, visit Cape Bruny Lighthouse, one of Australia’s oldest, where guided tours offer insights into its fascinating history. Take in the dramatic coastal scenery from this southern tip of the island.

    On your way back, stop by the Bruny Island House of Whisky to sample locally produced whiskies and gins, each with unique flavours. Finally, before catching the ferry back to the mainland, visit Get Shucked for fresh oysters, the perfect end to your day.

    As the day ends, enjoy the ferry ride back to Kettering and the short drive to Hobart.

    Derwent Valley (North-West of Hobart)

    North-west of Hobart lies the scenic Derwent Valley. Begin your day with a walk to Russell Falls in Mount Field National Park, near New Norfolk. After the walk, take a scenic drive from New Norfolk to Mount Field, where you can enjoy the area's natural beauty. Hamilton is our favourite town in this region, offering a charming atmosphere.

    For those interested in local spirits, visit Lawrenny Estate in Ouse, known for its Tasmanian gin and whisky. If wine is more your style, Stefano Lubiana Wines in Granton offers beautiful Tasmanian wines and shared platters that are perfect for a relaxed afternoon.

    Lunch at The Agrarian Kitchen in New Norfolk is a must but be sure to book ahead. Located on the grounds of the former Willow Court Asylum Complex, this restaurant offers a paddock-to-plate experience, with sourdough scallop potatoes that are simply the best. After lunch, enjoy afternoon tea at Black Swan, also in New Norfolk, and take some time to browse the beautiful antiques at The Drill Hall Emporiumon Stephen Street.

    Tasman Peninsula (South-East of Hobart)

    For a day trip to the south-east, the Tasman Peninsula has much to offer. Start your day with a walk from Remarkable Cave to Crescent Bay, taking in the stunning coastal views. Then, enjoy a scenic drive from Port Arthur to Remarkable Cave. Port Arthur itself is our favourite town in this area, rich with history and charm.

    For wine lovers, a visit to Bangor Vineyard Shed in Dunalley is a must. They offer wine tastings, along with great oysters and platters. For lunch, head to the 1830 Restaurant at the Historic Site Visitor Centre in Port Arthur, where you can enjoy local produce and Tasmanian wines with sweeping views of the World Heritage site.

    After lunch, treat yourself to coffee and cake at Cubed Espresso Bar in Eagle Hawk Neck, where the view from the lookout is amazing. If you’re in the mood for more treats, stop by Federation Chocolate in Taranna for some delightful chocolates.

    Richmond (North of Hobart)

    Heading north of Hobart, Richmond is a charming destination. Take a walk along the river and under the oldest stone span bridge in Australia. The scenic drive from Cambridge to Richmond is lined with beautiful vineyards, making it a pleasant journey.

    For lunch, you have two great options: Frogmore Creek Winery in Cambridge, which offers breath-taking views over the valley and waterways, or Pooley’s Vineyardin Richmond, where you can enjoy lovely wines, wood-fired pizzas, and cheese platters.

    If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss Sweets and Treats on Bridge Street in Richmond. For those who enjoy shopping, Richmond’s main street is home to several antique and woodcraft shops that are worth exploring.

  • While our dietary options are somewhat limited, we are dedicated to accommodating various needs. Inside the larder, discover our gluten-free muesli, and in the freezer, we have a supply of gluten-free bread slices. The fridge consistently stocks a range of alternative milk options for your convenience. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and remain committed to offering the best possible choices within our constraints. Occasionally, we also feature gluten-free and dairy-free treats. Please note that we may not be able to always fulfill specific dietary requests.

  • Enjoy our newly renovated backyard accessible down the driveway, with a gate leading to Marine Terrace.

  • Discover the convenience of our strategically placed hairdryers behind the bathroom mirrors for your grooming needs.

  • Enjoy cosy warmth during winter with central heating set to 22.5°C during the day, and 19°C overnight. From October to March, the central heating and towel racks are typically turned off, but each room is equipped with a Dyson heater and extra blankets for your comfort.

  • To familiarise yourself with the layout of the hotel to locate communal areas and your room, please see our Hotel Layout page on our website.

  • Our cleaning team is typically available from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm daily. For room service, utilise the provided tassel on your room table; hang it on the outside door handle by 12 pm. If you need fresh towels, simply leave the used ones on the shower floor. Additional toiletries, such as tissues and toilet paper, can be found in the bottom kitchen drawer (near the kettle)

  • Ice trays are available in your mini-bar fridge and the guest kitchen freezer for your convenience.

  • You’ll find our guest kitchen on the ground floor, and we encourage you to enjoy this space. Please make yourself at home!

    Breakfast Larder: The fridge and larder are stocked daily to satisfy your breakfast cravings and are replenished every morning at 7:30 am. Bon appétit!

    Afternoon Tea: Indulge in delicious baked goods prepared by us or sourced from local bakeries in the afternoon. Enjoy them in the dining room with a tea or coffee, or in the comfort of your room.

    Tidy Space : Please help us maintain cleanliness by storing personal food in your room’s fridge. Rinse and recycle glass jars and lids in the dishwasher (located next to the sink) after use.

    Rubbish: Bins are located under the sink. The white bin is for general waste, and the green bin is for compostable coffee pods and recyclables.

    Cooking: For safety reasons, please be aware that the kitchen cannot be used for cooking with the oven or cooktop. We appreciate your understanding.

  • Street parking is restricted to two hours from Monday to Friday, 10 am to 6 pm. There are no restrictions on weekends. We do have a limited number of complimentary parking permits available if you wish to park your car for the entire day.

  • Pets are not allowed unless specified in advance for specific pet-friendly accommodations.

  • Respect quiet hours from 2200 to 0700 to ensure a peaceful environment for all guests.

  • Lost room keys will incur a replacement fee of $250
